µTorrent: Free and Tiny BitTorrent client for Windows

µTorrent is a free BitTorrent client for Windows. It supports all the commonly available features of BitTorrent clients such as bandwidth prioritization, scheduling, RSS auto-downloading and Mainline DHT (compatible with BitComet). Additionally, µTorrent supports the Protocol Encryption joint specification (compatible with Azureus 2.4.0.0 and above, BitComet 0.63 and above) and peer exchange.

µTorrent does not hog valuable system resources. It uses only 6 MB of memory. Additionally, the program itself is contained within a single executable around 250 KB in size. µTorrent is a standalone application which does not require installation. This means you can use it from your USB drive.

All you have to do is to copy the settings and torrent files which are located in ‘uTorrent’ folder in the ‘Application Data’ folder on your system to the USB and place it in the same directory as the exe. You can go to the ‘uTorrent’ folder on your system by typing ‘%appdata%utorrent’ in the command line of Windows.

Features include multiple parallel downloads with multi tracker support, bandwidth scheduler which can be configured with upload and download speeds, speed limiting at both global and torrent levels, resuming of interrupted transfers, trackerless support etc. µTorrent has an integrated RSS downloader and supports super-seeding mode as well as selective file downloading.

Works with Windows 95 (Winsock2), 98/ME, NT/2000, XP, 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7.
Windows 95 users will need to install the Winsock2 Update from Microsoft for µTorrent to work correctly.

µTorrent’s interface is customizable with various skins available for Toolbar, Status, Tab and Program icons. You can also create your own skin by simple means. Examples of some skins are Vista.revamp, Aesthetic Groove, Green and Black glass, and Vista Skin.

µTorrent has support for multiple language files. After you download the language files, place them in the ‘%appdata%utorrent’ folder. When a language file is present, µTorrent will automatically switch to your system language. Download Language Pack.
