Record Streaming Video, Audio (MP3) Using Free Media Catcher
We have already shown you how you can capture streaming audio playing in an online streaming site using Freecorder. Adding to the list of free streaming media recorder tools such as MP3MYMP3 and URL Snooper is Free Media Catcher, an easy to use program for capturing streaming video and audio.
For recording streaming media such as a YouTube or Dailymotion video, simply click ‘Start Capture’ in Free Media Catcher, and then start playing the video. Many streaming media sites including Google Videos, Vimeo, Veoh, MySpace, Songza, LastFM, etc are supported by Free Media Catcher.

When you install Free Media Catcher, you are also required to install WinPcap, a packet capturing tool. You can choose to not include the WinPcap driver at boot up time of your PC, thus avoiding slow startup.

In case you just want to record the audio part of a video, then make sure you have selected the ‘Only Capture audio (extract audio from video)’ option from the Parameters menu.

Start playing the video and Free Media Catcher will automatically recognize it and offer you to capture it. Currently it detects FLV, MP3, MP4, WebM, and Ogg/Theora streaming videos. Once the file is downloaded to your PC, you can even preview it using Free Media Catcher’s built in player.
