Monitor & Limit Bandwidth Using NetBalancer

No matter how good your broadband connection is, when you start using download managers or torrent clients (P2P software), your browsing speeds fall down drastically. In order to have good browsing experience even when you are downloading huge files from the Internet, you need to use a good bandwidth limiter software.

NetBalancer is a free bandwidth controller and bandwidth monitoring program which lets you easily manage the data transfer on your computer. You can set upload/download transfer rate priorities as well as download and upload limits for processes or programs  running on your system and control how much bandwidth each of them gets.

Priorities include, High, Normal, Low, Block, Ignore, and Limit. NetBalancer’s monitoring tool lets you see overall system traffic stats as well as the upload and download stats for each of the system processes that are being monitored. Other features include display of last 15 seconds traffic in system tray, displaying current connection for any process, fine tuning of priorities (with the help of Severity settings) etc.

A limitation of this free version is that you can control and monitor up to 5 processes at a time. Still worthy of using for any internet user who regularly downloads using file sharing services such as Rapidshare, HotFile.com or P2P programs such as BitShare or uTorrent.

NetBalancer works with Windows XP/Vista/7. Currently it supports only 32 bit versions. x64 may be supported in the future.
