Microsoft Security Essentials Beta Available For Download

Microsoft has just released a Beta version of their free anti-malware program Microsoft Security Essentials. Available for a limited number of users on first come first serve basis, Microsoft Security Essentials Beta brings some new features and enhancements. This Beta program follows the release of Windows 7 SP1 that was made available for download recently.

Along with integration with Windows firewall (asking to turn on/off Windows Firewall during setup), Microsoft Security Essentials boasts of enhanced protection against web-based threats, a new anti-malware engine, better performance, and added protection against network-based exploits.

Similar to most beta products from Microsoft, this one is also available for download after you log in with your Windows Live ID. Microsoft Security Essentials Beta is currently available in English, Israel, and Brazilian Portuguese and will be available in Simplified Chinese later this year.

Before you install Microsoft Security Essentials it is recommended to uninstall any other antivirus or anti-spyware programs on your PC to avoid compatibility issues.
