How To Edit Or Cut AVI, DivX Video Using SolveigMM AVI Trimmer

Whether you want to share your favorite parts of a lengthy holiday or funny video, or want to cut AVI or DivX videos to upload them to YouTube, you need a video editor or cutter. We have already shown you how you can split or cut parts of a video using Easy Video Splitter, and cut YouTube videos online.

While Easy Video Splitter lets you manually or automatically cut a video into parts, it does not join them into one. For those of you looking for some basic video editing of AVI, DivX, Xvid, and MPEG-4 videos, here are the steps to edit and cut video using SolveigMM AVI Trimmer:

1. Download and install SolveigMM AVI Trimmer, a freeware program for video editing (download link at bottom). During installation make sure to uncheck the option ‘SolveigMM WMP Trimmer Plug (Shareware)’ and select on ‘SolvegMM AVI Trimmer’ before clicking ‘Next’.

2. Run the application and select the source video file that you want to trim. Also select the name and location of the destination video file.

3. You can play the video file in the program’s ActiveMovie Window. Drag the slider to the scene where you want to start trimming and click on the first marker button (as shown in screenshot below).

4. Similarly choose the end of the clip by pausing the movie at the desired scene and clicking the second marker button. Click on the ‘Add’ button and you will see that selected portion of the video is added to the time list (with beginning and end time).

5. Repeat this process for all the parts of the video you want to cut by adding them to the time list. You can see a visual depiction (color coded bar) of your trimmed video at the bottom of the program’s window. If you like to invert your selection, then click on ‘Invert’.

6. Once you are done with the cutting of the video, click on ‘Run’ to save the output video file.You can see the progress of the video cutting, as AVI Trimmer splits the video file into selected parts and join them into a single AVI video file.
