Skype 4.1, which was the last release of the popular VoIP client, brought in some new features such as screen sharing, sending contacts, birthday reminders. This time Skype has been released in a Beta version, with HD support for video.

Skype 4.2 which is still in Beta is available for download for Windows only, no word yet out on Mac OSX or Linux . This version supports 720p HD video at 30 fps(frames per second). You need a HD webcam and a really good bandwidth connection to start using Skype 4.2′s high definition video calls.

Other features included in this Beta version are access to Wi-Fi hotspots with a Skype credit, call transfer to mobile or landline when you are offline on Skype, a pre-call sound check.
