Download Internet Explorer 9 Platform Preview

Microsoft has released a platform preview of IE 9 at the MIX conference. This is the first ever platform preview released by Microsoft, giving developers a peak at the upcoming features of the next generation browser. This platform preview is not a full-fledged browser, but a light-weight frame with the rendering, layout and script engines.

You can install and try out IE 9 preview side by side with Internet Explorer 8. While the preview does not yet have an address bar, it does have feedback and debugging, diagnostic menus. Microsoft plans to use feedback from developers and bring in updates to IE9 every 8 weeks or so, to bring out a Beta of IE 9.

IE 9 platform preview supports HTML 5 standard, border radius, and other next-generation web browsing standards. It boasts of a new speedy JavaScript engine called ‘Chakra’ that compiles JavaScript in the background on a separate core of the CPU, parallel to IE itself.
