At times, whenever you scan documents into images, or receive scanned images, you may like to convert these images into PDF files. i2pdf is a free and portable utility, which lets you easily convert JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, or GIF images into PDF files. Here are the steps to convert images into PDF using i2pdf:

Download the zip archive (download link below), and extract it to a folder using an unzipping program such as 7-zip. Run the i2pdf.exe application.

i2pdf has a very simple interface. Select all the image files that you want to add to the PDF file, and drag and drop them into i2pdf. You can add images of type JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, or GIF.

Rearranging Images

You can rearrange the order of the images in several ways, for the output PDF file.

a. Drag the image up or down while holding down the left mouse button.

b. Select an image or multiple images by ticking the check box next to it. Right clicking gives you options to move selected items to Top or Bottom. You can also remove the selected items from the list.

c. You can sort the list alphabetically in an ascending order with a single click by going to Files –> ‘Sort now’. However there is no option to reverse this sort order.

Once you are done with adding and arranging the images, click on ‘Build PDF’. This opens the ‘Options’ window.

In the ‘PDF Creation’ tab, you can select image quality for JPG images. By default, i2pdf uses JPG compression. You can turn this off by unselecting the check box ‘Use JPG compression’. You can also resize images by dragging the ‘Image resize’ slider to a lower value, in terms of percentage of the original image size.

If you want to print your PDF, choose one of the available paper formats: A4, A3, US Letter, and US Legal. Or you could let the default option ‘Paperless’ remain.

i2pdf also lets you choose the startup mode for the PDF document. You can choose between ‘Fit page’, ‘Fit width’, ‘True size’, and ‘Full Screen’. If you have chosen to resize the image, then it is recommended to opt for ‘True size’, so that the image is not expanded.

In the ‘Text’ tab, you can enter document info such as author name, document title, the page header/footer that you want to be shown on each page of the document (does not apply to ‘Paperless’ Paper format).
